This page shows the comparison of key specifications between the 1999 (1st Generation) Hayabusa and the 1999 (1st Generation) Honda Blackbird otherwise known as the CBR1100XX or simply the Super Blackbird. The chart below only lists the major points of comparison.

The most important difference was that the Honda Blackbird still had carburettors, since it was release in 96/97 and the Hayabusa released in 99 had EFI. It shows that the Honda was not designed with the Hayabusa in mind just the original mega fastest motorcycle - the Kawasaki ZZR1100 or ZX-11 as it was known elsewhere around the world.

Check out the other specification pages for mores details.

The Hayabusa had unique tyres when first released.  There was significant shortages for the first year!

With D-CBS (2nd and 3rd Generation)
Front - Twin Nissin 3 piston callipers
Back - Single 3 piston callipers.
What is DCBS mean ? (Dual - Combine Braking System)
Means that when the only front is activated  brakes are applied 1 piston on the rear is applied,  If only rears are applied then 1 piston on the front is activated.
Since everyone knows how critical baking and weight transfer effects the bike capability this actually reduces it.  In my opinion ABS would be a better solution.
