For details check your country's official BMW website. 2010 Good updates and new model from BMW so far this year. Don't take this the wrong way but - expect to see it in TV and films soon - BMW does marketing and product placement really well - other manufactures take note.
BMW finally joins the world of real sports motorcycles with the introduction of the S1000RR! To released to the world sometime this year it is still too early to tell if it will be classified as a another more 'sports-touring' motorcycle! Regardless it does look like a proper sports bike and has all the right technical credentials. It features traction control and ABS which themselves are nothing new but on a sports bike - many riders are still reluctant to spec their sports bikes with these features. Honda already offers these additional features on a separate model. More prefer it on the tourers - cause they need it? We like to spin our wheels to wear out out squared tyres and other useful things like that!? The BMW S1000RR has received initial glowing reviews for its first effort - that doesn't mean it is ultimately better than the establishment. One must read the fine print!
The BMW R1200GS and its relative the R1200RT which are based on the same platform also gets an engine and design updates for 2010. It has been given more power and is a lovely bike regardless. It's big, stands out and it does most things well including look good on TV!
The BMW R1200RT is one of the great touring motorcycles available and was a favourite of mine a few years ago due to it comfy ride I had on it. However time does allow other models to raise to the top and it is not at the top of my list now. The updated Kawasaki GTR1400 is my choice for lots of reasons. If I get a chance to ride the RT again perhaps that would change my mind?
