23 August 2009

After 18 months of Hayabusa ownership although I have not travelled too many kilometres I can report that its been absolutely reliable!

Of note the fuel consumption has decreased for an average of between 6.5 low 7's. I never used the lower power settings during this time. It is noticeable since I was getting high 7 and 8 for the last few months. Since its cold around here the readings include the warming up cycle.

The Bridgestone BT-015 rear tyre definitely lasts longer than the original's BT56s. So I quite pleased about that - and so would you!

The suspension seems to have softened just a tad but that could just me getting used to the initially harder and what I think now as better and responsive handling. It is not the love hate relationship I have with true sports motorcycles. It is a compromise but probably a much better setup than other much softer sporty touring when you want to do some proper cornering.

My 2nd generation Hayabusa is also much better cared for than the original - this one rarely gets parked in direct sunlight and is covered between rides. So the finish is obviously lasting very well. So far so good which I guess - makes ownership enjoyable.

It's been a busy period since the last update. Haven't been able to do much riding due to work commitments. Since it has been awhile since the last update so I decided to post this one!

The 2nd Generation Hayabusa is still gong strong! I am genuine thankfully of the 3 power settings. I was caught in the rain going to the shops and the sudden fixation with council to put roundabouts everywhere and F1 drivers want-to-be in the suburbs is not the best combination. Even more so in the wet when it hasn't been raining for awhile. The you can see these car driving idiots sliding because they've got old tyres that have gone hard and have no traction. So rather than tempt fate simply had a coffee. Then ventured home carefully home.

I did not realise that it has been so long since the last update on the Hayabusa ownership experience! Lots has happened during the time but nothing actually involving the Hayabusa.

There has been a few rain storms and I just happened to get caught in one! I was not riding at the time thankfully and had parked uncover. I say thankfully because it was hail not the usual water! Needless to say me and company stayed uncover until the water level rose on the street and we had to seek higher ground. Higher ground was not easy to find! Unfortunately the electronic equipment on me did not fair well and now I need another new mobile phone and watch. Apologies its off topic but its all relevant!
That's the reason why I started writing about the iPhone and Tomtom reviews because I had to get a new mobile phone. It's an Apple (I'm now officially a clone) if you hadn't already guessed. Anyway the watch is not OK since then then dials have stopped moving and the battery was only replaced last year but it was very very wet! So I decided to seek bits of technology that are tough...Electronic things that are weather proof or life proof but look good at the same time! After all when you are riding around or any other door activity its often just not possible to avoid weather conditions. So I'm going to start looking at things that are 'tough'!

Continued after my last post I tried researching 'tough' stuff but it turns out that technology is still not as tough as I thought. So I guess another dead end. At least its occupied my time and really make me thing about life, the universe and everything' like that. I always wondered about motivation speakers and now I understand why they exist...

Back to Hayabusa, it has not seen much action lately since I've been on my travels again. It is cold and wet where I'm currently living so does not encourage riding about and I think I'm going through mid-life crisis...
